Poem 16

Friends...or enemies?

Friends
Seemingly nice
Seemingly warm
Seem to be kind and caring.

Why do they run
Why do they hide
Why do they turn their backs on you?

When you need it most
Their mouths are shut
No words of advice
Seem to whisper from them to you.

How can they do
What they do
It seems so cruel
So selfish
Makes no sense.

Friends
Who are betrayers
Are no friends
At all.

Poem 15

Politics

Bunch of bull
Bunch of ridicule
Bunch of empty promises.

Nothing to offer
Nothing to give
Nothing to keep things going.

Everything to ruin
Everything to give up
Everything to crash and fall.

Left to dust
Left to non-existence
Left to us with no hope at all.

Poem 14

Fears

Thinking
Of love, of life, of being
Of everything that comes to mind.

Afraid to live, afraid to die
To touch, to speak, to feel
To do anything at all.

Mind rushing, thoughts flashing
Through my head, my arms, my body
Through everything and anything.

Shaking all over
Scared to death
Body heaving
Mouth trembling
Legs quivering
Brain exploding
Crashing all at once.

Poem 13

Pictures

A picture's worth a thousand words I'm told
What words can't begin to describe
The way I think, the way I feel
What my heart sees through my eyes.

The picture seems so lifeless
Tainted with color and fingerprints
Smudges gleam the glossy surface
The message seems to shine through, though.

Stories are told
Lives begin, tales unfold
Scenes emerge in my mind
Creating images that last forever.

Memories glide through my head
Rummaging, flashing like bulbs
On and off they turn inside
Moving swiftly on.

The notebook closes
My folder's shut
All I can see now
Are pictures fresh and ready.
Waiting for color
Waiting for truth
Waiting for their lives to start.

Poem 12

The Drink

The Drink
Home for the weak
Refuge for the fools
The ones who seem
to think they're cool.

The Drink
Makes them gross
Makes them vile
Nothing they do
Is deemed worthwhile.

The Drink
Makes them crawl
Makes them stumble
All their dreams
Crash and crumble.

The Drink
Is their choice
Is their fault
Putting many lives
To a halt.

The Drink
Home for the lonely
Refuge for the poor
The souls who always
Need just one more.

Poem 11

Memories

Looking out the window
All I see is trees
Sunlight shines overhead.
The impenetrable sun
Touches all it sees
Into gold.

Memories float by
Swift as time
Never looking back.

All those fun and games
Will now remain
Only in my head.

The way trees can just stay there
Endless, for all time.
Seems to be so simple.

I cannot picture
Even for an instant
The true world beyond.

Poem 10

Time

Time
An agent of the universe
A progressor through the ages
Our never-dying brother
Who can see all
Taste all
Feel all
And hear all.

Time
An operator of goodness
A possessor of the evils
Our o'erpowering father
Who can touch all
Speak all
Fear all
And sense all.

Time
An usher of the order
A deemer of commands
Our evercaring mother
Who can heal all
Seek all
Brave all
And know all.

Time...
Who can be all.

Poem 9

Moving On

Everything's so sad
People moving, people leaving
Some never to return.

It seems like yesterday
That we were all together
In that place we called preschool.

All my friends as one
A group that could be trusted
No one dared divert.

School changed
We changed
Everything all changed.

Elementary school, junior high,
High school most of all.
Alterations were made here.

Some will be forgotten
Some will stay a legend
Some will remain true.

All I know now is
For definite, for real,
I've had the best time of my life.

Poem 8

Never...Always...

As graduation passed
Time seemed to fly by quickly
Never stopping, always moving
Time going by so fast.

The beginning seemed so short ago
Little kids dressed in funny clothes
Never waiting, always growing
Kids going with the flow.

Days passed on without a thought
School seemed to us so boring
Never ending, always learning
School was where we were taught.

Now those days are far gone
My class of two thousand and four
Never forgetting, always remembering
We have all moved on.

Poem 7

The Maximum

My heart pounds steadily faster
My nerves become my master
Every fear in my body
Rising to a maximum.

Energy flowing from my veins
To my heart and to my brain
Scared to death, afraid of it
The time has finally come.

On the floor I sweat, I shake
Will I go or will I break?
Stumble, fall, yet rise again
I have a achieved a triumph.

Victory so fine and sweet
On this day I did compete
For the title of my dreams
I've achieved my maximum.

Poem 6

The Bruise

Big bump
Oozing, swelling, growing
Simply rechid
Smelling, disgusting, gross
Blue bruise

Poem 5

Rain

Clouds billowing overhead
Shapes and forms so plentiful
Shifting, moving, crossing
Across the empty gray sky.

Drops of glistening rain
Newly formed, just born
Rushing, sprinting, shooting
Falling endlessly toward death.

The rain coursed through my body
Like blood
Chilling me with coldness
Dreary, empty, sad
Yet free
Free like the wind in summer
Hot, sweaty, humid
Yet sweet.

Poem 4

Sensory Topics

Glistening drops of rain so round
Fall like icicles to the ground

Water
Smooth, wet, simple
Indifferent to the world
It falls, it cries, it weeps
Never happy.

Poem 3

Untitled

Black starry night
How the wind blows not
All is still and calm
Bright lights from above
Clear, shining, yet dark
Signal of the storm to come.

Poem 2

Haiku

A curse within walls
Love does echo distantly
Yet beyond my reach.

Closely I wander
By the river, green and blue
Thinking soft and calm.

Blue October sky
So vast, so open, so high
I long to take part.

Open white blossoms
Tremble with new fallen dew
Cry of a flower.

Poem 1

Open Meadows

Days in the summer

when the violets, tulips, and daffodils bloom,
my friend and I visit the meadow's open room.

The meadow is always inviting
when the sun is shining and the sky is clear.
This is how we can sense
that the meadow wants us here.

Hand in hand, we frolic and play
Beside the flowers and lovely trees.
Together, forever, as long as we want.
That is how we know we're at ease.

As we sit down to have lunch at noon,
We try to recall
Back to the days long forgotten,
When we both were very small.

We soon begin to chat and laugh
For hours on and on
Until we realize that the moon
Has told us it is dawn.
